Education and training

Training for professionals

Brook delivers a blended model of free full and half-day training sessions to professionals who work in Southend-on-Sea. We aim to improve knowledge, skills and attitudes on key topics and concerns associated with sexual health such as HIV, sex working and Mandatory RSE, among others.

To register your interest, learn more about the topics we cover or for more general information about our training programme, please contact southend.ccard@southend.org.uk

Relationship and Sex Education (RSE)

Our Health Promotion Specialists can deliver a limited amount of RSE assemblies in schools located in areas where there are relatively higher levels of teenage pregnancies and STI prevalence. Our school assemblies promote STI testing and contraception as well as general good sexual health.

In addition, we will promote and utilise our Brook RSE@HOME brand to target parents and foster carers in Southend, to support the delivery of Relationship and Sex Education in the home.

If you think your school will strongly benefit from this service please contact southend.ccard@southend.org.uk

You can find out more about Brook's broader education and training offer, including details of how to access free e-learning on a variety of RSE topics, on the Brook website.

Outreach and community engagement

Community Champions

We believe in and appreciate the social value that volunteer work can bring to a community. In Southend, Brook Education recruits and upskills local community champions to produce and promote targeted messaging and engaging social content on various social networking sites as well as through their in-person community networks. Embedded within local grassroot organisations and community groups, we work closely with community champions to promote sexual health in popular community sites and at special events.

Our Health Promotion Specialists will support outlets with training and guidance and will assist residents to sign up to the service as part of our outreach work.
