Free condoms

The C-Card gives you access to free condoms, internal condoms (femidoms) and lube from a number of outlets.

C-Card is free for anyone aged 13+ living in Southend-on-Sea.

How does it work?

To be able to use the condom distribution service, you will first need to register for a C-Card.

If you are aged 16 or over, you can register online. If you are under 16 or prefer not to use online registration, you can register at any registering C-Card outlet.

Once registered, you will be able to collect free condoms from a number of outlets across Southend-on-Sea, including pharmacies, shops and public services. Outlets will let you know they are part of the scheme by displaying the C-Card logo in their window, and you can also view a list of current outlets here.

How to register

At a C-Card registration point

Visit a C-Card registration point during opening hours to register.

Registration usually takes about 10 minutes. You will be asked a few simple questions like how old you are, your postcode etc. and the provider will confirm that you understand how to use condoms effectively.

All the information is confidential and will not be passed on to anybody else.

What if I am under 16?

Young people aged 13-15 will be assessed under Fraser competency guidelines to make sure the scheme is suitable for them.

Online (16+ only)

If you are 16 or over, you can register online.

All you need to do is complete a short form with your details and watch a condom demonstration video. Once this is done we will email you with your temporary C-Card number instantly, which will then allow you to pick up free condoms at any C-Card outlet.

All information is confidential and we will not store your email address, it will be deleted as soon as your registration is complete.
